Faith, food and coming together

Ramadan and Eid

Sharing in the traditions of Ramadan (and the joyful Eid celebrations that follow) has always been of the deepest importance at Dishoom.

The call to prayer being led by Hassen Rasool

For Muslims around the world, Ramadan (honoured 17th February to 18th March in 2026) is a time of private worship and spiritual discipline – but also of shared meals, acts of kindness and togetherness. (Our Meal for a Meal initiative was inspired during Ramadan 2015 as our zakat – the practice of charitable giving.)

For the holy month, Muslims fast daily from dawn ’til dusk. Come nightfall, the fast is broken with a veritable feast: iftar. It is our greatest joy to be able to bring together people of all faiths during this auspicious time – with a little help from our delectable iftar special and bountiful Iftar Feast menu.

Iftar Special Lamb Korma with Khamiri Roti:— Lamb, slow-cooked to yielding tenderness in a richly spiced, deep-smoky sauce, with cashews and onions softened to silken effect. Most unlike mildly sweet kormas that often bear this name.

Chicken Berry Britannia:— Tempting and flavourful pot of chicken, ginger, garlic, mint, coriander and rice cooked together in the Kacchi style. An homage to Britannia’s Chicken Berry Pulao, with cranberries.

Basmati Kheer:— Silky caramelised basmati rice pudding cooked nicely with vanilla-infused coconut milk, cardamom and cashews. Cooled and layered with blueberry compôte.

What is Ramadan?

“Occasionally, it does us good to pause for thought, to disembark the carriage and sit on the platform awhile. During Ramadan, millions of Muslims across India and around the world, from Bombay to London, take the time to reflect, pray and taste the essence of a simpler life.”

FAQs

Ramadan is expected to begin on Tuesday 17th February 2026 and end on Wednesday 18th March 2026, depending on the sighting of the moon. It is a holy month of worship and spiritual discipline for Muslims across the world – but also a joyful time of shared meals, acts of kindness, donations to charity (zakat) and togetherness.

We always have Medjool dates available for those breaking fasts – just ask, whether in-café or outside in the queue.
